Auburn freshman Evins poised for powerful university experience from the Plains

Donovan Evins just isn’t your typical college freshman.

The 18-year-old Meridian, Mississippi Datemyage, indigenous reached Auburn University last fall full of hope, vow and big objectives, and then he has strike the ground operating on the Plains. Evins, a medical laboratory technology major, is becoming involved with EMERGE at Auburn—a student leadership group dedicated to assisting Auburn students develop leadership abilities they could make use of on campus, within their communities and in the end within their selected job areas. furthermore, he could be an everyday during the working office of scholar Involvement and serves in the Black scholar Union, or BSU, Freshman Committee.

Evins hasn’t allow the COVID-19 pandemic keep him from immersing himself in college life.

“i might state I’ve had a fairly great experience only at Auburn, and even though COVID has slowed some things straight down,” said Evins, who had been valedictorian of Greenville senior school in Greenville, Alabama, this past year. “I understand Auburn has too much to provide and provide straight back in my opinion as a pupil. I know we’re rounding the corner quickly and I also will get to totally experience university like i will.”

Evins claims BSU has assisted him it’s the perfect time and turn tangled up in campus tasks.

“It feels a lot more of a household now it just helps me be able to relate and be comfortable here at Auburn,” said Evins, who was student body vice president and named “Mr since I know so many people through the Black Student Union, and. Year Greenville High School” his senior.

He really wants to play a role in the diversity that is university’s by motivating their peers to feel welcomed through constant discussion and fellowship.

“i must say i would you like to make that push to get more black colored males on campus,” said Evins, BSU’s liaison for Auburn’s scholar national Association, or SGA. “I simply want them to know you can find possibilities to join up and get active.”

Chasing their desires

Evins has made a collection that is impressive of, like the each Auburn Leadership Scholarship, All Auburn Scholarship, College of Sciences and Mathematics STEM Scholarship, East Alabama Medical Endowed Scholarship, Inabinet Family Alumni Endowed Scholarship, Auburn University Board of Trustees Endowed Scholarship and Dr. Claranne M. Bush Endowed Scholarship from Auburn University, plus the Southeast Gas Scholarship and CollegeCounts Scholarship through the Alabama workplace of State Treasurer.

They truly are permitting him to follow their fantasies to become a traveling lab that is medical, a vocation possibility Evins seems can give him the chance to start to see the nation as well as perhaps the planet.

Evins developed a strong work ethic from their mother, DeShannon Bogan, an Auburn graduate whom works as being a housing professional when it comes to Montgomery Housing Authority.
