Many daters will be reluctant to take part in a committed relationship that is romantic having came across their partner FtF ( Whitty & Carr, 2006), so that the shortage of research regarding offline interactions between daters is noteworthy.
In Whitty’s ( 2008) research, more or less 68% of on line daters suggested that the first FtF conference functions as being a “screening out process” that determines whether a relationship may be worth pursuing (p. 1719). Whereas initial online interaction helps daters confirm basic information and coordinate an offline encounter, the initial FtF meeting provides crucial cues that allow them to ascertain the veracity and attractiveness of one another’s real world identity.
