Shady payday lenders are within the news regulator’s places after having a rise in consumer complaints about spam email messages and texts has prompted fears that susceptible Australians are now being targeted.
Official complaints about unsolicited e-mails or texting have increased year-on-year in the last 5 years and resulted in the Australian Communications and Media Authority issuing huge fines to high-profile businesses including Woolworths and Optus.
During the last year that is financial ACMA received 6858 complaints about spam via e-mail or SMS. (more…)
