February 1, 1913 – Paterson Silk Strike

Starting on Feb 1, 1913 the silk weavers for the Paterson mills proceeded attack to protest the proposed work enhance from operating two looms to four. The Strike involved 20,000 employees, along with the influence associated with IWW (Overseas Workers worldwide)expanded the difficulties to incorporate an eight hour workday, safe working conditions and a conclusion to youngster work. January 23, 1976 – Paul Robeson passed away in Philadelphia.

Hidden in Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, Westchester County, ny, Paul Robeson passed away on January 23, 1976 after an extended, distinguished job, marked by racism and controversial governmental activism for which he fought for freedom.

Athlete, star, singer, Civil Rights activist and nj-new jersey indigenous, Paul Robeson came to be in Princeton in 1898. He had been a brilliant pupil and talented athlete at Rutgers University, where he had been a Phi Beta Kappa receiver plus and All US in soccer, yet he endured open racism and physical violence from their teammates.
